The Discomfort of Change

Change can feel uncomfortable. The past several weeks have brought enormous heartache, anguish and exhaustion. George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and countless others should still be with us.  Black Lives Matter, yet so many of our attitudes, policies and practices do not reflect that very simple value. I humbly commit to learning, listening more and empathizing with those who carry experiences I have never known.

There is no neutral ground here. I may struggle with how best to show my support or explain these times to my young children, but action is necessary. Enough.

I hold hope that these rocky and uncomfortable times will lead us to something better. Change is long overdue.  I believe in the promise of healing through social justice. My black and brown brothers and sisters, I want your children to be safe, enjoy opportunity, and experience love and respect. As I continue my work to build strong corporate cultures, I commit to sharpening my lens to bring all experiences of racism and discrimination into focus.  Your voices are important.  All of our futures depend on this, as I believe we’re all interconnected. Only then can our collective creativity truly flourish.
